Bar Council of India Acts on Alleged Fake Degree of Delhi Vice-Chairman

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has intensified its scrutiny of Sanjeev Nasiar, Vice Chairman of the Bar Council of Delhi, following allegations of a forged law degree. After an investigation uncovered irregularities in Nasiar’s LL.B. degree issued by Devi Ahilyabai Vishwavidyalaya, the BCI suspended him and called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry. Evidence indicated that the university was unauthorized to conduct the course at the time and pointed to tampering in official documents.

The Delhi High Court had previously been involved in reviewing these allegations. Although it dismissed a direct petition to remove Nasiar, the court directed the Bar Council of Delhi to forward all relevant documents to the BCI for further action. The BCI has resolved to proceed firmly against any wrongdoing to maintain the integrity of the legal profession.
