In a relief to Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court today removed the bail condition in the Delhi Excise Policy case that required him to appear before the investigating officers of the ED and CBI twice a week.
A bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan passed the order, clarifying that Sisodia must continue to regularly attend the trial. “We do not find the said condition necessary,” the bench stated.
The contested bail condition required Sisodia to report to the investigating officer every Monday and Thursday between 10-11 AM.
To summarize, on August 9, the Court granted bail to Sisodia in both the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi Excise Policy ‘scam,’ considering the delay in the commencement of the trial and his prolonged pre-trial custody. As part of the bail conditions, Sisodia was required to furnish bail bonds of Rs. 10 lakhs with two sureties of the same amount and surrender his passport. Additionally, he was obligated to report to the investigating officers twice a week, which has now been deleted.
